It's Once & Forever

Eric WU 胡達亮  第27届

        Do not be surprised when you see this is not in Chinese. The reason why I am writing English is obvious--- limited Chinese capability and underlying risk of comparisons with articles from other members. On the other hand, I am surprised, as soon as I have got the request from Tiffany, whom I met for the first time three years ago.

        Back to the main theme. Let’s throw out some boring personal history first: I only joined the exchange trip once, the 27th, to our capital city Beijing, shortly after the Olympic Games. And yet, was an astonishing one---this expedition brought me a number of “first time(s)”. For the first time, I built friendships with those outside my school;

        For the first time, I came into real contact with university students;For the first time, I left my home on my own;For the first time, I visited our country’s capital;For the first time, I enjoyed a free trip;For the first time, I took a flight (now you know my secret);To list but a few.

        How this brief experience has shaped my life needs no further elaboration (this is not supposed to be an advert). Yet, somehow, the process of shaping is painful. The same case is for our infant stages, when we all learned walking and fell for the first time.

        How the ASSM brought up this excellent idea decades ago, I have no idea. The thing is, for the past years, innumerable youngsters had been equipped and guided toward our wider society, but the zest in carving an exceptional lesson for every participant with fun is still maintained.

        Like all human beings, that one-and-only piece of memory is fading, all the time. Nevertheless, time has not impeded me from earning more. Now I have got a new family---the Potter Family, established in the 29th by a few enthusiastic explorers into Jiangxi. Again, do not be surprised by my presence in the family without a second journey, because, the membership in ASSM is actually lifelong.
